Event Description: The USGA Golf Museum located in Far Hills, N.J., is pleased to host a day of special programming honoring all veterans and active military. Renee Powell, daughter of WWII veteran William Powell, will share her father's legacy one more time before the exhibit "More Than a Game," comes down. During her presentation and overview of the exhibit, Renee will bring her father's story to life while inspiring veterans through her own passion for our country and for those who serve it. William Powell's patriotic spirit and attitude at a time when even the Armed Forces were segregated made him more determined to make a difference. Ultimately, this gave his daughter Renee the same strong sense of patriotism and the desire to make a difference not only for African Americans and veterans but for female veterans. As founder of Clearview HOPE, Renee has developed a program to help female veterans find healing through the game of golf. Clearview Golf Course in East Canton, Ohio is the program's headquarters. This is only fitting because Mr. Powell was the first African American to have designed, built, owned and operated a public course in the United States. His legacy continues, proof that golf truly is "more than a game." RSVP to to attend either the 10:30am or 2:00pm presentation. Admission is "free" and light refreshments will be available.
