Event Description: The Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum opens its wreath-clad doors for the 15th Annual Colonial Christmas, one of Central New Jersey’s signature holiday events, attracting nearly 2,000 visitors of all ages, cultures and interests in a festive atmosphere of hospitality, history and friendship. The two weekend-long celebration of the holidays features tours of the circa 1772 museum, festive music; period decorations, re-enactors, reindeer, holiday shopping, Santa visits, children’s and family activities, a Colonial café, and an exhibition of rare Revolutionary War artifacts and documents. Proceeds from Colonial Christmas benefit exhibit development, historical interpretations, and educational programming at the Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum. 10 AM – 4 PM daily. Admission is $10 per person. Members and children 12 and under free. Sponsorship opportunities available at all levels. The Jacobus Vanderveer House -- a National and New Jersey Historic Site -- served as headquarters for General Henry Knox during the winter of 1778-79 and is the only surviving building associated with the Pluckemin Artillery Cantonment, now recognized as America's first military training academy and the precursor to The United States Military Academy at West Point.
