Gail Rose, CPABRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Business Partnership has announced that Gail Rosen, CPA has been selected as the 67th Somerset County Outstanding Citizen of the Year.

The award is given annually to Somerset County’s premier community leader. The Outstanding Citizen is the county’s most prestigious individual reward recognizing someone for their community and business activities that have contributed to make Somerset County a special place.

Ms. Rosen will be honored at a dinner reception on Thursday, May 4, 2017, beginning at 5:30 P.M. at the Bridgewater Marriott, 700 Commons Way in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

The list of past recipients is made up of individuals who have dedicated their personal lives to contributing to Somerset County’s widely recognized reputation as one of New Jersey’s best places to live, work, and play. Rosen is one of the unsung heroes who have dedicated their time, experience, and expertise to the overall good of the community.

Rosen founded her boutique accounting firm in 1983 in Martinsville, NJ and now serves a diverse group of over 800 businesses and individuals. Paul Stahlin, 63rd recipient in 2013 stated, “As past president of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and former chairman on a national level, I consider Gail to be one of the best. She is passionate about her profession and has leveraged her abilities to go beyond her clients. She has purposely kept her practice intimate so she can serve others beyond her business. This is evidenced by her volunteer time by sharing her expertise at RVCC with the Small Business Development Center.

According to Steve Kalafer, 56th recipient of the award in 2006, “Professionally, in her capacity as a leader in critical moments in Somerset County’s history, she was an integral part of our ‘team’ and helped us bring the Somerset Patriots Professional Baseball Team to Somerset County. She assisted us in countless ways and helped us develop lasting relationships with local businesses, residents, municipal officials and local politicians. “

The dinner honoring the Citizen of the Year continues the nearly seven-decade long tradition of bringing the community together to honor an individual’s volunteer efforts in support of the community. The Citizen dinner provides the opportunity to reflect on Somerset County’s rich history and the people who have provided the leadership that has contributed to that success.

The Outstanding Citizen of the Year award was first presented in 1950 to Somerville Mayor Howard Lyons who also served as president and director of the Somerville Trust Company. The announcement of the selection was made by George H. Shay, newly elected president of the Somerville Chamber of Commerce.
